ABOUT MY APPROACH - SUZANNE HERRITY

Healing and self-compassion begin with recognising yourself as a complete human being—strengths, vulnerabilities, and all. True growth does not start from the idea that we are broken; it begins when we acknowledge that we carry both wounds and wisdom, pain and possibility.
I work from a deeply human and integrative approach, drawing on evidence-informed and experiential modalities including Psychotherapy, Sound Therapy, Breathwork, Somatic Therapies, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). My aim is to create a space that honours your unique needs, pace, and inner wisdom.

Many people I work with come seeking support through experiences such as
-
Anxiety, Depression, Complex trauma
-
Narcissistic abuse, Abandonment, Neglect
-
Challenges in creative or entrepreneurial pursuits.
-
I also support therapists, coaches, and healers seeking guidance, as well as those exploring holistic approaches, expanded states of consciousness, or psychedelic experiences.

-
While neurodiversity isn’t a specific area of specialisation for me, I warmly welcome neurodivergent clients and am committed to working in a way that honours difference and avoids pathologising

My work is grounded in empathy, presence, and respect. I do not offer a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, I hold a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore all aspects of yourself, clarify your needs, and move toward a life that feels authentic and aligned.

I believe compassion, courage, curiosity, and wisdom are capacities we cultivate over time. Through therapy, you are invited to strengthen your relationship with yourself—honouring your strengths, addressing struggles, and integrating your experiences into a path of self-leadership and self-compassion.
A little more about me personally
Originally from Ireland, moving to Australia offered an opportunity to step away from longstanding familial and cultural pressures and begin carving a path aligned with my own values. From a young age, I held myself to high expectations, believing that anything less than perfect was not enough. I felt a tension between who I truly was and the version of myself I thought the world expected, which over time contributed to experiences of anxiety, depression, self-criticism, and body dissatisfaction.

Like many people, I developed coping strategies to manage these overwhelming emotions, navigating periods of hypo- and hyper-arousal and experimenting with different ways to regulate and soothe my system.

In my early 30s, as a single parent, I chose to study Counselling and Psychotherapy—a decision that marked a pivotal point in my life. It was an opportunity to reflect on my values, take stock of my life, and begin reclaiming a sense of integrity and agency. Over the past two decades, I have been privileged to deepen this work, beginning with my own psychotherapy journey, which continues to be the foundation of my growth as a practitioner.
