Advanced Integrative Therapy (AIT) Trauma & energy-based healing · Melbourne & online
Release the past. Restore your wellbeing.
Advanced Integrative Therapy is a gentle, trauma-focused approach to healing emotional patterns, stress responses, and unresolved experiences that are affecting your wellbeing, relationships, or sense of self.
What is Advanced Integrative Therapy?
Developed by Dr. Asha Clinton, AIT works at the intersection of mind, body, and energy psychology. It offers a structured process for releasing emotional charge that has become stored in the body and nervous system — even when life appears stable on the surface.
AIT recognises that our patterns don't only come from our own experiences. They can also be shaped by family systems, intergenerational dynamics, cultural conditioning, and deeper layers of the self. These dimensions are approached with care, grounded clinical awareness, and respect for your pace.
This work suits people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, or recurring emotional patterns — as well as those simply seeking a deeper level of self-understanding and integration.
How AIT works
AIT combines several approaches within a single session:
-
Talk-based exploration — gently identifying the thoughts, emotional patterns, and lived experiences shaping your current reality
-
Energy psychology techniques — working with the body's energy system to release emotional charge held in specific memories, sensations, or patterns
-
Muscle testing — used as a tool for tracking subconscious responses and identifying where the system is holding stress or imbalance
-
Body-based awareness — noticing physical sensations connected to emotional material and supporting safe release through regulation
-
Belief and identity work — addressing limiting beliefs at the subconscious level and supporting more resourced internal states
AIT can also be combined with Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work for a deeper understanding of internal dynamics and protective patterns.
What happens in a session?
Each session is guided by your pace and what your system is ready for.
We begin by locating the emotional theme or pattern asking for attention. From there, you're supported to notice sensations, memories, or activation while AIT techniques are used to support release and regulation. As emotional charge clears, we work with any underlying beliefs or protective structures that have formed around the experience. Every session ends with settling, reflection, and integration.
Throughout the process:
-
You remain in control at all times
-
You do not need to relive trauma in detail
-
The work is paced according to your nervous system capacity
-
Change can be subtle, cumulative, or immediate — it varies from person to person

Frequently asked questions
Is AIT like reliving trauma?
No. The approach works with emotional charge in a contained and resourced way, without requiring detailed re-exposure to past events.
Is AIT scientifically grounded?
AIT combines psychotherapy, somatic awareness, and energy psychology. Some components — including energy psychology and muscle testing — are considered complementary approaches. They are used here within a structured, clinically informed therapeutic framework.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies depending on what you're working with and your goals. Some people notice shifts quickly; others benefit from a longer process.
Can AIT be combined with other therapies?
Yes. It works well alongside IFS, talk therapy, and other somatic or integrative approaches.
Is it safe?
Yes. Sessions are carefully paced and guided by your nervous system readiness throughout.
